Child Health
Child mortality rates in Paraguay are about 29.5 deaths per one thousand births. The issues of child health have a direct relation to maternal health and resources. There are many preventable diseases that attribute to the death rates among children. One of those diseases is Chagas’ disease, which affects the rural areas greatly. There are also parasitic and respiratory issues that could be solved with the proper medical attention.
Yet, this isn’t possible for those who aren’t wealthy or at the top of the chain. For those who live in this situation, they may have the resources to go outside of their community to get help for their child. However, the biggest issues in Paraguay stem from sanitation issues, malnutrition and lack of proper health care. This millennium goal could be tackled, but it would be better paired with maternal health. This goal is only attainable to an extent, because many of the resources are provided by the government which is currently in turmoil.

End World Poverty
The amount of deaths in the year 2011 from malnutrition is about 369, which is 1.55% of the population. An estimation of the amount of people in Paraguay is 6 million. When the numbers are added up, the rates aren’t horrible. This millennium goal seems attainable, but given the state of the economy, it may not be a priority.
This goal may be able to be reached through another goal. If we fix the farming problems and land ownership injustice, then an organization may be able to bring these numbers down drastically. Locating the concentrated area will help to figure out exactly why these deaths happen. Also, the definition of hunger plays a huge role in these statistics. If we define hunger as having a secure resource for food, then obviously these numbers will increase.
Obviously, Paraguay cannot tackle world poverty, but it can resolve the issues of poverty within the country itself by utilizing the resources that already exist in the land. This can be a matter that is greater than supply and demand. The system can be manipulated to work to the benefit of the people that live there. However, the government plays a large role in this country’s progression.

Gender Equality
The issue of gender equality is present in education, but on the grand scheme this does not seem to be a major issue. Paraguay seems to be improving its involvement of women in the government, and broadening the opportunities for women. However, this situation is not perfect. Equal wage is still considered an issue for many people.
Women’s rights has expanded since the 1990s, changing the cultural perspective of many. One of the larger issues is social equality, a larger issue to tackle. A lot of the social equality derives from cultural value. It may be a matter of breaking traditions. In general, women have higher illiteracy rates than men. Also, women’s salaries in relation to men are the second lowest in Latin America, yet women make up over seventy percent of the work force. Sexual harassment is common on the job for women in Paraguay. There is a major issue with young women being kidnapped and sent to Brazil, Argentina or Spain for human trafficking. Violence against women is another issue among the many issues of gender equality.
